The Williams-Grand Canyon Chamber of commerce will put on their first mixer of the year Friday at The Open Studio, 106 S. Ninth St. from 5-7 p.m.
The mixer benefits Teacher Supply Drive. The Chamber asks those who attend to bring items like paper, crayons, pencils, rulers and glue sticks. The chamber will distribute the supplies to Williams school teachers.

Kiwanis coat drive through May 1
Winter is here and the Williams Kiwanis Club is sponsoring its annual coat drive. The club especially needs children's coats. The Kiwanis Club gives the coats to the Williams Food Bank for distribution to needy families. Last year the club donated more than 400 coats. This year it has already donated 250 coats. Kiwanis started the coat drive Oct. 1 and it will continue until May 1. Ogden's Cleaners in Flagstaff cleans the coats before they are distributed. Folklorico dancing open to community
Folklorico dance classes are open to all. The class meets 5:30-6:30 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday at the Williams Rodeo Barn. All community members are welcome to attend. More information is available from Armando Padilla at (928) 380-4637.
Choir seeks members
The Northern Arizona Choir and Symphonic Band is seeking members. Residents of Ash Fork, Seligman and Williams can join. The choir/band is open to those in grades first through 12th. Recreation department offers free activities
The Williams Recreation Center offers three free recreational opportunities. Basketball for high school students and adults takes place from 6-8 p.m. Wednesdays at the Williams-Elementary Middle School (WEMS) gym. Adults can match their skills against their high school age family members for a challenging night of basketball.
Family game and craft hour takes place Wednesdays from 6-7 p.m. at the Williams Rec Center, 300 W. Railroad Ave. The recreation center offers supervised games, craft supplies and fun free of charge.
Open Gym for eighth grade students and younger featuring basketball, dodgeball and volleyball takes place Friday nights from 6-9 p.m. at the WEMS gym.
The city of Williams Recreation Center sponsors the programs with financial assistance from the Williams Unified School District through the Arizona Parents Commission on Drug Education and Prevention Grant.
Lions Club meetings open to all
The Williams Lions Club meets at 6:45 a.m. the first and third Tuesday of each month at the lounge inside Denny's. Everyone is welcome.
Big Brothers Big Sisters is looking for volunteers

Widest buck contest ends Jan. 31
The hunter to score the widest buck (outside to outside) will win a new Diamond bow. The Big Buck Contest and Raffle is open to all units south of Grand Canyon.
An entry number also gives contestants a chance to win a Remington 870 Express Super Mag. The entry fee is $15. The contest ends Jan. 31. The drawing is Feb. 2 at Hunters Headquarters.
