• The Girl Scouts are still selling Christmas trees at the Willard Dye garage, but they want to get the bulk of their patrons taken care of Saturday as that is the only full day they can devote to the project. Of course, some of the girls will be there Friday afternoon in case any trees are wanted at that time. The trees are getting pretty well picked over so the girls suggest that those wanting trees get them as soon as possible.

Dec. 17, 1959

• Mrs. Kate Burchett was hostess at a party for her son, Gerald, Tuesday, the occasion being Gerald's second birthday. Helping him celebrate were Jerry, David, Jack and Carl Fuller, Norma Pearson, Vickie LaRue and Donnie and Debbie Bruce. Refreshments of ice cream and cake were served.

Dec. 19, 1974

• The Elks "canned goods" movie will be this Saturday at 2:30 p.m. with the box office open at 2 p.m. Admission is by an item of canned goods or prepared foods like macaroni or even spaghetti. The foodstuffs are used for Christmas boxes given at this season by the Elks Lodge. The child must bring the food item to gain admittance to the movie.
