Church news: Week of March 17, 2010
St. Johnís Episcopal Lutheran Church

"Almighty God, you alone can bring into order the unruly wills and afflictions of sinners. Grant your people grace to love what you command and desire what you promise."

The 9 a.m. Book Study continues to study "The Tent of Abraham."

The children in the intermediate class are studying the Lord's Supper and what Lent means to them.

All members are reminded that on Palm Sunday, March 28, we will be having a guest preacher, Dr. Gordon McBride, a retired rector of Grace-St. Pauls in Tucson. We also hope to have some special music.

Following the Palm Sunday service, Dr. McBride, a published author, will have a book signing for St. Johns and all who are interested within the Williams community. Plan to take part in this event.

The Sunday schedule is as follows: 9 a.m. Book Study, 10 a.m. Sunday School and 10:30 a.m. morning worship service with the Eucharist (a nursery is provided). All are welcome.

Family Harvest Church

The community is welcome to join us for our Second Annual Chili Cook-Off at 1 p.m. March 21.

We invite all to join us during any of our scheduled events.

This is our schedule -

• Adult Bible Study is held at 6 p.m. every Wednesday. Currently Pastor Tim is teaching through the Epistle of James.

• Youth night is held 6-8 p.m. every Thursday.

• Sunday morning service begins at 10:30 a.m. with nursery and kids church provided. Starting April 11, Pastor Tim is teaching a study on "A Man After God's Heart." Sunday evening service is at 6 p.m.

• Monday night men's and women's separate Bible Study begins at 6 p.m. Child care is provided.

St. Joseph Catholic Church

St. Joseph's Parish is selling cookbooks for $10. For more information, call (928) 635-2430.

Weekly events include -

• Friday - 8 a.m., Benediction and Holy Hour Morning Prayer; 9 a.m., Holy Mass.

• Saturday - 4 p.m., Confessions; 5 p.m., Holy Rosary; 5:30 p.m., English Mass; 6:45 p.m., Santo Rosario; 7 p.m., Spanish Mass.

• Sunday - 7:30 a.m., Holy Rosary; 8 a.m., Holy Mass.

• Tuesday - 8:40 a.m., Liturgy of the Hour Morning Prayer; 9 a.m., Holy Mass.

The church office is open 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Friday.

St. Joseph's is located at 900 W. Grant Ave. For additional information, please call 635-2430.

Community United Methodist Church

Set aside Saturday, March 27 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for the church cleanup day. Lunch will be served. This work day is in preparation for Resurrection Sunday. A list of projects has been identified.

Weekly worship opportunities include -

• Tuesday - 1 p.m., Not-Sew-Perfect Quilters.

• Wednesday - 7 p.m., Lenten Bible Study.

• Saturday - 7 a.m., Men's Ministry.

• Sunday - 8:45 am. adult Sunday school; 10 a.m. worship/young disciples church; and 11:30 a.m. fellowship.

Calvary Chapel Williams

This week's regularly scheduled church events include -

• Wednesday - Midweek study begins at 7 p.m. We are currently studying in First Samuel.

• Thursday - Junior and Senior High School Youth Group begins at 7:30 p.m. in the church.

• Sunday - Sunday worship service begins at 10 a.m. Pastor Mike is currently teaching through the Book of Acts. An Hour of Prayer begins at 1:30 p.m. Please join us for a time of prayer.

• Tuesday - Sign language class begins at 5:30 p.m., with instructor Brenda Reed at the church.

Jehovah's Witnesses

The Jehovah's Witnesses warmly welcome you to their weekly Bible meetings:

• Sunday - Bible discourse, 10 a.m.; Watchtower study, Matthew 6:10.

• Thursday - Theocratic Ministry School, Congregation Bible Study, service meeting, 7:30 p.m., John 6:45.

All meetings are held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 5495 N. Sunset Strip, and are open to the public.

First Baptist Church

Weekly events include:

• Today - Women's Bible Study at the church; teen night, 6 p.m.

• Thursday - Hope Cottage, 7 p.m., Flagstaff.

• Sunday - Sunday school (all ages) - 9:30 a.m.; worship service - 10:30 a.m.; and children's church - 11 a.m. Child care is provided.

• Tuesday - Ladies Bible study, 10 a.m. at the church; Men's group, 6 p.m. at the church.
