WILLIAMS, Ariz. -Every morning, Big Town Hero owners Nimo Patel and his wife Shital rise before the sun to bake fresh bread made from scratch, ensuring their sandwiches are of the highest quality.
Located on 618 West Route 66, across from Dairy Queen, Oregon-based sandwich franchise Big Town Hero is the newest business in town. The sandwich shop boasts great prices for a wide variety of hot paninis and subs, basic sandwiches, salads and side options, all made with the freshest ingredients.
The Patels managed to give what used to be West End Grocery a much-needed facelift, turning it into the Big Town Hero sandwich shop in about six months and welcoming their first customers on Aug. 15.
"There was a lot of work to do," Patel said. "The building was abandoned for about 25 years."
Big Town Hero has been making sandwiches since 1983 and franchising since 1989. The Williams location will be their 40th shop and the first one to be opened in Arizona.
Patel said working with Williams locals has been the best part of opening a new business in this area.
"I like small towns," Patel said. "I like to getting to know everybody here, and so far everyone's been very nice."
And for the locals, Patel said Big Town Hero has an "Everyday Hero Club" card, offering free drinks and other incentives for being a faithful customer, along with a local discount.
The shop is open Monday though Saturday 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information on the newest sandwich shop in town, call (928) 635-3003.
