Letter: Kiwanis Fourth of July pie sale a success

To the editor:

The Williams Kiwanis Club would like to thank all the people who bought pie slices and whole pies during the "Hometown Fourth of July" celebration. It was a fun day for the entire community and our many out-of-town visitors, with many activities and booths sponsored by local groups. We sold more than 120 pie slices and a dozen or so whole pies.

A special thank you goes to the local Safeway store for its donation of 12 pies. Local Kiwanis members donated another 30 pies. Apple pie on the Fourth of July is about as American as it gets!

Your local Kiwanis club is all about kids. All funds raised during our many activities during the year are directed to local activities and scholarships that benefit the children and students of Williams and the surrounding area.

We are a small club and new members are very welcome. If you are interested in an organization that is strictly for the kid-at-heart, please attend one of our meetings. We meet every Wednesday for a lunch at Wild West Junction at high noon. See you there!

Pat Schlecht

Vice president
