Letter: Junipine Fire's proposed annexation about expanding tax base

To the editor:

The Junipine Fire Board is trying to annex Red Lake into the Junipine Fire District.

The first thing they did wrong was to avoid an outreach letter to the residents of Junipine to see how they felt about expanding our obligation from one square mile to 56 square miles.

After the April 29th hearing on the matter it was pretty obvious in my personal observation that the long-range goal is to have a bigger tax base so it will be easier to bring about a fully salaried fire dept.

This may not sit well with a lot of our residents but I guess they didn't feel that that was too important.

I'm sure the County has their eyes on extra revenue as well as they showed when they ignored the people and went forward with the Perrin Ranch Wind Farm, which turned out to be a big waste. I believe APS knew that was coming from the beginning.

To the residents of Junipine, I would suggest you think twice before signing any petition to move this annexation forward. All this growth comes with a hefty price tag called "tax increases." This whole country, from local Government to Federal is turning from "We the People," to "We the Government."

We have two choices. We can sit by and watch it happen, or we can send a message to them that "they still work for us."

Mr. Tim Williams,

Be very careful of the misinformation you, as well as others, continue to disseminate. Another term for this misinformation is slander, defamation of character and the like!!!

RE: Mr. Williams response to Junipine letter.
The reason this makes no sense to you is because you don't seem to understand that when you go to a fully paid fire dept. ,and that would be sure to come reality, because volunteers are becoming a thing of the past. Along with full time firemen comes Insurance,Benefits, like sick leave, pensions ect. Where do you think this will come from?
If taxes aren't raised , it will eat up the annual budget to the point that you can't keep up the maintenance on vehicles and equipment which is critical to the operation of any Fire dept.
Furthermore, with the majority of homes in Junipine and redlake being Mfg. homes , they burn faster than a stick home because of the lack of requirement in the building codes.
By the time Junipine to Red Lake ,it would be too late to even think about saving those structures, so it makes the case "What would be the purpose even considering such a project"
I also have a problem with the County making regulations like the residents of junipine have no vote in the matter . This Station was built and paid for by our community . It doesn't belong to the County to say what they choose on what they want.

Given the rural area's around Williams, I suppose these "evil Communist goverment out to get me" people are fairly common, but it's still always fun to watch the tin-foil hat crowd cry about things they have NO idea what they're talking about! Because of course Junipine Fire's #1 motivation for annexation is to be part of the government takeover of the people and to raise taxes.

This letter makes zero sense. First, taxes would go down for people in Junipine Estates, Second, the tax for people in Red Lake would be lower than the subscription prices HCFR currently charge. Third, HCFR is not a professional FD. It is run by people with personal agendas. Those agendas are not to provide the best FD for residents and visitors, it is for their own egos and gratification. A simple check on the guy that drives the Suburban will reveal some very troubling things in his past. He and the elderly HCFR Chief are directly responsible for the problems in JFDs past. Those issues were cleaned up and now JFD is ready to provide excellent coverage to the entire area and have a consistent budget.
