5/4/2010 2:37:00 PM Letter: City employees deserve praise
To the editor:
As the city and county are going through their budget meetings for the upcoming fiscal year, I would like to thank our employees for their hard work and efforts to maintain the current level of service to our community. Like most of Arizona, Williams has had to make severe budget cuts that have been felt throughout the community. Our city employees have had to double up in their duties with no additional compensation and, in many cases, a reduction in pay.
While I respect Bernie Hiemenz' views in last week's interview, I know that our city staff are already strained, and trying to combine a city manager and public works director into one position is not realistic. Our current city staff are to be commended for their hard work, and I encourage everyone to pay a compliment or word of thanks to our city employees this week when you see them.
