Letter: VFW Post No. 12128 urges vets to connect
Williams-Grand Canyon News

To the editor:

The Matthew J. Broehm VFW Post No. 12128 would like to extend our welcome to the combat veterans of the recent Panamanian, Somalia, Grenada, Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom and other wars. We would like to persuade veterans to join us, and would like to explain a few reasons why we proffer our help.

We desperately need you, younger veterans, to join us so that we can further the cause of our existence. If we don't grow, we will cease to exist as a social entity.

The number one reason is to help the combat veterans to find a place in which they can feel comfortable in discussing their difficulties in their transition to civilian life. We have valuable resources available that are designed to help in finding jobs, health and mental care and counseling.

There are other resources available that will help with education, financial support, government agencies and programs, vocational rehabilitation, VA Life Insurance programs, housing services and facilities, legal support, memorial and cemetery services. We also have contacts with professional organizations and special groups that provide resources for parents, teachers, family and small business assistance.

We urge you to come in and talk with us. Our office is located at 117 E. Route 66, Suite 190 in the strip mall. If you want, slide an envelope with your particulars, including a phone number, under the door, and we'll get in contact with you as soon as possible.

Please allow us to help you gain the possibility of a normal life so that you can be all you can be. Our point of contact is our Service Officer, William (Bill) Yaw. His phone number is (928) 635-4775.

Our monthly meetings are on the second Thursday of every month at 6 p.m.

Stephen F. Bingell

Jr. Vice-Commander
