1/29/2013 10:51:00 AM Letter: Williams has a diabetes support group
To the editor:
According to the Centers for Disease Control, 25.6 million people in the U.S. over the age of 20 have diabetes of one type or another. Another 79 million have pre-diabetes and 7 million more may have the disease and not know it. Wow, that's a lot of people!
There are undoubtedly a few of those people living in Williams and the surrounding area. Dealing with diabetes can be challenging and frustrating. There is so much to know (and no, it isn't just avoiding sugar). One of the things that can make it all a bit easier is sharing with other people who understand what you're going through.
Williams has a Diabetes Support Group and we're inviting you to join us. The group meets on the second Tuesday of each month, at 6:30 p.m. at the Williams Healthcare Center.
The meetings are always free and last about one hour. Our next meeting will be on Feb. 12. We will have a discussion about exercise and how it can help control diabetes. There will be guests. Please contact Kate Cornell at (928) 221-0624 if you have questions or need more information. See you on the 12th!
