Carlos "Chuck" Martinez

Carlos (Chuck) Martinez was born on Jan. 24, 1963 in Williams, Ariz. to Fidencio (Fred) and Angelita (Angie) Martinez.

Chuck was raised in Williams and attended Williams schools. He was a 1982 Williams High graduate. He also entered DeVry Institute and was there for one year.

In 1984 he joined the Air Force and retired in 2004.

On Aug. 3, 1985, he and Joni K. Runyan were married in Williams.

During his military service he was deployed to Desert Storm, Desert Shield and numerous deployments to the Middle East and around the world.

After his retirement, he worked at Luke Air Force base as a civilian since 2004.

His home in Surprise was open to everyone and he loved to entertain. He was affectionately known as "The Grilling Chef."

Memorial services took place at Surprise Funeral Care with full military honors.

Carlos is survived by his wife Joni Martinez, sons Anthony and Nicolas Martinez, grandchildren Jonathon and Isabelle Martinez, mom Angelita Martinez, brothers Ron and Fred Martinez and extended family.

Chuck's ashes will be spread over the area where Chuck and his father hunted many years ago.

Never forget Marty's laugh, he was one of a kind, a great supervisor and a pleasure to serve with! Condolences to his wonderful family.

I was so sorry to hear of the passing of Chuck. He shall always be in the hearts and minds of those who loved him. Rest In Peace brave one, your time here is complete. God Bless your family and friends during this time and always.
