An inter-governmental agreement is in the making....
With the Williams City Council's recent approval of an inter-governmental agreement (IGA) between the City of Williams and Coconino County to have Williams Justice Court employees run the Williams Municipal Court, we're one step away from that accomplishment. The Coconino County Board of Supervisors will soon be voting to approve the IGA as well. With that done, Williams Justice Court Manager Jennifer Carter will take on the responsibilities for running both courts, and will be able to hire another county employee to do so. This idea came about after the resignation of the municipal court supervisor and the question that followed: How can we best staff our courts? Working with Coconino County Deputy Court Administrator Sharon Yates and Williams City Manager Brandon Buchannan, the idea for an IGA was born and developed to its current state. For more information regarding the IGA, please come by or contact the court at 635-2691.
