Forest restoration is the topic of today's open house
Williams-Grand Canyon News

WILLIAMS, Ariz. - The Kaibab National Forest will host an open house 6-8 p.m. today to provide information on the Bill Williams Mountain Restoration project. The open house will be in the large conference room of the Williams Ranger District office, 742 S. Clover Rd.

The purpose of this project is to restore the health and sustainability of forested conditions on and around Bill Williams Mountain by reducing hazardous fuels and improving the watershed conditions contributing to the City of Williams water supply. The project covers about 15,200 acres, four miles south-southwest of Williams.

"We appreciate the level of public involvement we've had so far and invite people to continue to provide input on this important project," said Martie Schramm, Williams District Ranger.

Personnel will be available to answer questions about the proposed project; comments call Schramm at (928) 635-5630, or email
