The Williams-Grand Canyon Chamber of Commerce welcomed its new events coordinator, Josie Bustilllos, on Aug. 6.
The chamber's former events coordinator, Alicia Raecke, moved to Colorado.
Bustillos spent the last four years as the executive director of the Grand Canyon Chamber of Commerce. Since Bustillos is from Williams and currently lives here, she said when the events coordinator position became available it was a "no-brainer."
"It's wonderful to be able to live and work in the same community," Bustillos said.
Bustillos' job is to make sure Williams offers great events for the community and visitors, she said.
"We want people to come here, it's not just some place they drive through, it's some place they experience and they enjoy our events and they want to come back next year to do it again or bring more family members with them," she said.
Currently, Bustillos is busy planning for the Labor Day parade and rodeo and the Taste of Williams. She is also spending time meeting people in the community.
"I'm getting to know all the business owners and finding out what their wants and hopes are. And, what we've done, was it good, could it be better, so I'm looking for their input also," she said.
In the future, Bustillos hopes to add a few more events to the Williams calendar.
"We definitely want to try to make Williams a year-round community of things to do for our visitors," she said. "We are a tourist town and tourists bring jobs to our community. If they weren't here we wouldn't be."
