The Williams High School (WHS) class of 1963 is celebrating its 50-year reunion next month, and all Williams alumni are welcome to take part in the festivities.
The reunion will take place from Sept. 13-15. On Sept. 13, the group will meet at Doc Holliday's Steakhouse at 5 p.m. for a meet and greet. On Sept. 14, the group will meet at the Sultana Theater at 5 p.m. for dinner. The dinner is being catered, and a $15 fee for those attending is due by Sept. 1. On Sept. 15, the group will meet at Cataract Lake Park for a potluck at noon.
About 34 people graduated from WHS in 1963. However, graduates from other years are welcome to attend the reunion.
"This is not just for our class, it's for all Williams High School alumni," said Jimmie Cox, one of the reunion organizers along with Iris McNelly.
During the reunion events, organizers will be raising money for the Williams High School Alumni Scholarship. A graduating senior will receive the scholarship at the high school's awards night this spring. Organizers will raffle off handmade and donated items to raise money for the scholarship.
Cox said she had fun during her high school years, when she was a pom pom girl and a member of the drum and bugle corps. She hopes that many of her former classmates will come to the reunion.
"Everybody's getting older, and we've already lost nine of our classmates, and it's just a fun time to get together and see what's happened with people in the last 50 years," Cox said.
Those who would like more information about the reunion or who would like to RSVP for the Sept. 14 dinner by Sept. 1 should call Cox at (928) 853-0288.
