WILLIAMS, Ariz. - The fun and games of Las Vegas are coming to Williams on Friday when SAVE-Meant to Rescue puts on a casino night to benefit rescue dogs.

The event will take place from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Sultana Theater, with a happy hour before from 6 to 7 p.m.

The theme is "A chance to change your luck and the life of a dog." The money that this event brings in will go toward building a local dog shelter. The organization still needs about $18,000 to build the shelter, said Robynn Eckel, SAVE-Meant to Rescue founder.

"We're hoping that this will be a huge success for the dogs," Eckel said.

Attendees can play Texas hold 'em, craps, poker, black jack, roulette and pai gow. Event goers will receive $500 of casino money with presale tickets and $400 of casino money with tickets purchased at the door. Additional chips will be available for purchase.

The event will include appetizers, entertainment and raffle prizes.

Dennis Nelson will provide music, and the Gypsy Chicks dancing group from Flagstaff will also perform. Charlie Bassett will be the master of ceremonies.

The raffle will feature a variety of prizes from jewelry to food to experiences. Donors include HomCo, Amanda's Beauty Box, Xanterra, Big E Steakhouse and Saloon, Winborn Landscaping, Pizza Factory, Many Tails Dog Grooming, Paradise Massage, Bearizona, Elk Horn Trading, Papillon Helicopters, Elephant Rocks Golf Course, Continental Golf Course and Aspen Golf course.

Eckel said the casino night will be a fun time for a good cause.

"These dogs we rescue need us all," Eckel said. "Please please come and participate for the dogs."

Tickets for the event are $20 and are available from Eckel at (928) 635-4726 or Bruni Loprieato at (928) 635-8897.

This event sounds like a good time for a good cause! Where can we donate our time and money? Do the senior citizen center know about volunteering here?
