Widest buck contest ends Jan. 31

The hunter to score the widest buck (outside to outside) will win a new Diamond bow. The Big Buck Contest and Raffle is open to all units south of Grand Canyon.

An entry number also gives contestants a chance to win a Remington 870 Express Super Mag. The entry fee is $15. The contest ends Jan. 31. The drawing is Feb. 2 at Hunters Headquarters.

Those interested in entering can visit the Outdoor Store, corner of Route 66 and Fourth Street or Hunters Headquarters at 4401 N. Highway 89, Suite 3 in Flagstaff.

Kiwanis is looking for coats

Winter is here and the Williams Kiwanis Club is sponsoring its annual coat drive. The club especially needs children's coats. The Kiwanis Club gives the coats to the Williams Food Bank for distribution to needy families. Kiwanis started the coat drive Oct. 1 and it will continue until May 1. Those interested in donating may drop off coats at the Williams Recreation Center or at Williams Realty. More information is available from Bud Parenteau at (928) 635-4393.

Recreation department offers free activities

The Williams Recreation Center offers three free recreational opportunities. Basketball for high school students and adults takes place from 6-8 p.m. Wednesdays at the Williams-Elementary Middle School (WEMS) gym. Adults can match their skills against their high school age family members for a challenging night of basketball.

Family game and craft hour takes place Wednesdays from 6-7 p.m. at the Williams Rec Center, 300 W. Railroad Ave. The recreation center offers supervised games, craft supplies and fun free of charge.

Open Gym for eighth grade students and younger featuring basketball, dodgeball and volleyball takes place Friday nights from 6-9 p.m. at the WEMS gym.

The city of Williams Recreation Center sponsors the programs with financial assistance from the Williams Unified School District through the Arizona Parents Commission on Drug Education and Prevention Grant.

Choir seeks members

The Northern Arizona Choir and Symphonic Band is seeking members. Residents of Ash Fork, Seligman and Williams can join. The choir/band is open to those in grades first through 12th. Donations to purchase music are welcome. Joining the choir is free. More information is available from Kathleen Petty at (435) 669-6752.

Lions Club meetings open to all

The Williams Lions Club meets at 6:45 a.m. the first and third Tuesday of each month at the lounge inside Denny's. Everyone is welcome.

Big Brothers Big Sisters is looking for volunteers

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Flagstaff (BBBSF) is looking for individuals that have a passion for community service. BBBSF needs adult volunteers to be Big Brothers and Big Sisters to elementary school children. More information is available from Christina Boyd at (928) 774-0649.

TOPS meets Wednesday

Take Off Pounds Sensibly (TOPS) meets at 9:30 a.m. each Wednesday at First Baptist Church, 629 W. Grant Ave. Everyone is welcome. More information is available at (928) 699-2122.

Dancing Divas practice Friday

The Dancing Divas meet each Friday from 9-10 a.m. at the Williams Senior Center, 850 W. Grant Ave.

This free dance group gets together to learn various types of dance such as western, jazz, ethnic and tap.
