The Williams Planning and Zoning Commission will discuss the preliminary draft of the Williams General Plan tonight at 7 p.m. in the council chambers, 113 S. First St.

Cities must update their general plans every ten years. The general plan has seven elements: land use, circulation, water resources, costs of development, growth areas, open space and environmental planning.

Rick Counts of Counts Planning will likely present his preliminary findings about the plan elements and the implementation program during the meeting. Community members will be able to make recommendations about the draft.

About 12 people attended the first public meeting about the general plan on April 18. Participants named enhancing the city's appearance from the freeway, increasing affordable housing options, and improving the city's street system as priorities for Williams during the next 10 years.
